Illness & Medicines in School

Most children are ill at some time during their time at school. It is better if your child does not feel well to keep him or her at home. Colds and tummy upsets always spread very easily. If your child suffers from one of these, please keep them at home. The need for medicines to be brought into school should be rare. Nevertheless, if there is a need as prescribed by a GP medicine (clearly labelled with the child’s name) must be left with the School Secretary or Headteacher. In cases of medication to be administered during the school day, which has been prescribed by the family doctor, the school has a policy for Administration of Medicine and parents will be asked to sign a consent form, giving the dosage and times for administration. All children with Asthma must have their own personal inhaler in school at all times. If your child is Asthmatic can you please ensure that their inhaler is named and has the correct dose clearly labelled on their inhaler. We have trained first aiders in school at all times.

When a child is absent from school please contact us as soon as possible on the first morning of your child’s absence in order to enable us update our records. Please let us know an emergency telephone number where you can be contacted in case of accident or illness.

Please don’t forget to let us know if your child has any medical condition.
